VSI Crusher Rotor

The rotor is the heart of a vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher: the part that spins at high speed, accelerates the aggregates and throws them against the crushing chamber wall by centrifugal force. The build quality of the rotor directly affects sand quality, production capacity, machine vibration and wear part costs. The Rockwell Crusher VSI rotor is built entirely in our workshop in Shahr-e Qods, from cutting and machining the plates to welding the body and fitting the wear parts.

Application

The rotor is used in VSI crushers for manufactured sand production and particle shape improvement (producing cubical sand and aggregates). It can be ordered both for new machines and to replace a worn or damaged rotor in sand and gravel production lines.

Made by Rockwell Crusher

The VSI rotor is built in the Rockwell Crusher workshop, so its wear parts are always available and our technical team supports you in selection, installation and maintenance. To order, simply tell us your machine model and operating conditions.

Overview

What Is a VSI Crusher Rotor and What Does It Do?

In a vertical shaft impact (VSI) crusher, crushing happens through impact and rock-on-rock collision, and the rotor is the only part that transfers this energy to the aggregates. The rotor is a closed cylinder made of a top and bottom plate, vanes and internal walls, and discharge ports. The more precisely the rotor is built and the more evenly it spins, the more uniform the output sand, the lower the machine vibration and the longer the life of the bearings and wear parts.

How It Works

How Does a VSI Rotor Work?

  1. Feed enters through the central ringAggregates fall from the hopper on top of the machine, through the feed ring, straight into the center of the rotor.
  2. Acceleration inside the rotorThe rotor spins at high speed and the aggregates accelerate along the vanes and internal walls toward the discharge ports. Some material stays inside the rotor and forms a protective rock bed that reduces wear on the body.
  3. Discharge through the portsThe material is thrown out at high speed through the discharge ports, past the wear tips.
  4. Crushing in the chamberThe aggregates hit the chamber wall and each other, break and lose their sharp edges. The result is sand with cubical grains.
Rotor Components

What Parts Make Up a VSI Crusher Rotor?

Top and bottom plates

Two thick steel plates that form the frame of the rotor. These plates are machined in our workshop so the rotor spins in balance at high speed.

Feed ring

A wear-resistant ring at the top opening of the rotor that guides the incoming aggregates and protects the edge of the top plate from wear.

Top wear plates

Segmented, bolted plates on the top of the rotor that wear instead of the main plate. Each segment can be replaced separately.

Vanes and internal walls

Welded vanes between the two plates that form the material path and give the body strength against impact and centrifugal forces.

Wear tips

Wear-resistant parts at the edge of the discharge ports that take the heaviest wear. They are bolted on and can be replaced without welding.

Port protection plates

Protective parts beside the ports and behind the tips that shield the rotor body from direct rock impact.

Features

Features of the Rockwell Crusher VSI Rotor

Built entirely in our own workshop

Cutting, machining, welding and assembly of the rotor are done in the Rockwell Crusher workshop, and we control the quality of every stage ourselves.

Precision-machined plates

The top and bottom plates are machined so the rotor is concentric and balanced and machine vibration at high speed is kept to a minimum.

Strong welded body

The vanes and internal walls are joined to the plates with continuous welds, so the body withstands impact and continuous operation.

Bolted, replaceable wear parts

The wear plates, feed ring and tips are bolted on, so replacement is quick and line downtime is shorter.

Easy spare parts supply

Because the rotor is built in our workshop, its wear parts are always available and you do not depend on imports to source them.

Built to your machine model

The rotor dimensions and its connection to the shaft are determined by your VSI crusher model and the needs of your production line.

Maintenance

VSI Crusher Rotor Maintenance Tips

Inspect the tips regularly

Check the wear tips at regular intervals and replace them before they wear through, so the rotor body is not damaged.

Replace parts in balance

Replace wear parts as matched, equal-weight sets so the rotor stays balanced and machine vibration does not rise.

Control the feed size

Aggregates larger than the machine’s allowed size put excessive load on the rotor and tips and shorten the life of the parts.

Watch for unusual vibration

A sudden increase in vibration usually signals uneven wear or a broken part; stop the machine and inspect the rotor.

Why does rotor balance matter? A VSI rotor spins at high speed, and even the slightest imbalance leads to severe vibration, damage to the bearings and shaft, and line stoppages. That is why precision in building the plates and correct replacement of wear parts matter as much as the quality of the rotor itself.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About the VSI Crusher Rotor

Can you build a VSI rotor for my existing machine?

To order, send our experts your machine model, the dimensions of your current rotor and how it connects to the shaft, and we will check feasibility and confirm the delivery time.

When should the rotor be replaced?

With timely replacement of the wear parts, the rotor body usually lasts a long time. If the body is cracked, the plates are worn or deformed, or vibration persists after replacing the wear parts, it is time to replace the rotor.

Do you supply the rotor wear parts separately?

Yes. Wear tips, wear plates and feed rings for rotors built by Rockwell Crusher can be ordered separately.

What does the price of a VSI crusher rotor depend on?

The price depends on the rotor size and diameter, plate thickness, number of ports, the material and number of wear parts, and the order conditions. Contact our experts for an exact quote.
